JOB TITLE: The Head, Internal Audit and Control

Job Description

  • Formulate a comprehensive risk based Internal Audit Plan, direct and coordinate the delivery of excellent internal audit services in alignment with the corporate strategy and key objectives of the company.
  • Evaluate and provide reasonable assurance that risk management, internal control and governance systems are functioning as intended.
  • Assessing the soundness and adequacy of the company’s internal controls process.
  • Ensure that AML/CFT at the Head office and all the branches are subjected to periodic audit review.
  • Make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and monitor management’s response and implementation.
  • Daily review of investment transactions to ensure that all investments are within statutory limits and matured funds are not left un-invested.
  • Perform random spot checks on all aspects of the business and provide an early warning in cases of actual, suspected, or potential fraud/risks.
  • Filing of internal audit quarterly report with the Commission.
  • Report to both the Audit Committee of the Board and Management at least once every quarter, on the policies, programmes, adequacy and effectiveness of management’s governance, risk and control environment, deficiencies observed, and the mitigation plans by management.  
  • Advise management on all reinsurance matters as well as other duties assigned by the management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of HND/B. Sc. Degree in relevant courses
  • He or she must be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 10 years post qualification and 15 years of progressive experience with at least 5 years at a Management position.
  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills among others.
